Parking Procedures at Rhode Island College
Campus Parking Update - 7/28/14It has come to the attention of the Campus Police that there have been several questions regarding the expiration of the current parking permits. The following are the current procedures for the parking system:
- All current parking permits with the expiration date of 7/31/2014 will remain in effect.
- BURGUNDY- FACULTY/STAFF
- GOLD- COMMUTER STUDENTS
- GREEN- RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS
- All new faculty, staff and students will be able to obtain their parking permits online at IParq beginning August 11, 2014.
- All members of the RIC Community with either new and existing parking permits will be informed by email when to come to campus to receive the new 1" expiration stickers dated July 31, 2018 to be placed next to the parking permit.

Rhode Island College has partnered with iParq to institute specific parking procedures for the campus. This is a FREE service offered to our campus community. Under these new procedures, parking lots on campus have been assigned to specific groups of the campus community. Each is color coded differently. Only those vehicles whose colored permit matches the color coded parking lot signage will be allowed to park in that lot. All existing reserved and handicap spaces will remain the same.
|Commuter Students (Gold)||Parking available in lots B, E3, E6, F, H, I, J (lower two-thirds), T, and Y.|
|Resident Students (Green)||Parking available in lot L. Parking also available in lot E3 (Recreation Center) after 5 PM.|
|Faculty/Staff, Adjunct Faculty, Part-Time Employees (Burgundy)||Parking available in lots C, D, E1, E4, E5, E8, E9, E10, G, J (upper third), M, N, Q, R, S, U, V, and W. Parking also available in lot E3 (Recreation Center) after 5 PM.|
|Visitors||All visitors MUST check in with Campus Police at Browne Hall to obtain a visitor parking tag. Visitors can park in ANY lot with an authorized visitor tag.|
|Open Parking (Grey)||Parking lots A, E2, and K, as well as street parking, represent open parking which is available to all groups with the exception of resident students.|
How to Obtain Your Parking Permit
- Before you log on to the parking permit web page, you will need to have the following information ready:
- Your name, address, car make & model and license plate number.
- You will also need your RIC Campus ID#. This is your confidential RIC Campus ID#; you should not share this number with anyone.
- There is no longer parking on Dorm Lane due to fire safety regulations.
- All are pre-approved for one parking permit. Faculty & staff: If you require an extra permit, you will need to request this through Campus Police.
- Parking permits should be received through postal mail within 15 days of submission.
- If your vehicle does not have a permit for any reason, you will need to notify Campus Police at (401) 456-8201.
- For temporary disability access, students should request assistance from the Disability Services Center. Faculty and staff should speak with Maggie Sullivan in the Office of Human Resources.
- No overnight parking is allowed except in parking lots L (for resident students only) and M (for police personnel only). If overnight parking is needed, students and faculty must first check with Campus Police.
- Any non-resident student staying overnight in a residence hall must obtain a visitor's tag at Campus Police located in Browne Hall.
- Faculty and staff members who have bought new vehicles must bring their old permit back to Campus Police. A new one will be issued to you.
- You will need to complete the entire registration process or error messages may appear. If you encounter problems, please begin the registration process again from the beginning.
- Permits expire 7/31/2014.
- Currently enrolled RIC students are able to request parking permits. However, if you are not currently enrolled, you cannot apply for a permit.
- If you have just enrolled for the current semester, please wait for at least one business day before your account can be activated on the iParq Web site. Otherwise, you will not be able to find your record there.
